WELCOME TO THE DETROIT VACANT PROPERTY CAMPAIGN!

Vacant and abandoned property can threaten a community’s future, diminish its quality of life, reduce property values, and jeopardize public safety. The Detroit Vacant Property Campaign (DVPC) is developing real solutions to reduce the negative effects of vacant property.

By actively building a coalition of community groups, nonprofit organizations, government officials, and business leaders, we are working to enhance the future of Detroit’s neighborhoods.

The DVPC is an initiative of Detroit Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and led by Community Legal Resources (CLR). With CLR, the DVPC provides:
• policy development and analysis
• technical assistance
• legal resources

The Michigan Foreclosure Task Force and the Michigan Foreclosure Prevention Project have put together a flyer regarding the new 90-day pre-foreclosure negotiation law set to take effect on July 5, 2009. Attention Homeowners: Having trouble paying your mortgage? FREE HELP IS AVAILABLE!

Responding to the legal issues raised by DVPC, CLR's Vacant Property Legal Team created a manual emphasizing strategies for stabilizing, acquiring, and managing vacant properties. For CDCs, neighborhood associations, and residents, we hope it proves useful!
